Superfuzz Bigmuff 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Grew what's left of my hair out again. It got big and furry. Then it got warm, so it needed cut. I couldn't think of what to give my wife for her birthday, so I sold my hair for a new watch chain (that joke never gets old). Anyway, the girl came in after I was done cutting and said, "Now you're even MORE balder, daddy!"

Thank you for the ego boost, darling.

Then, a few minutes later, when I was in the shower, she opened the bathroom door and shouted, "You look like Dwight Eisenhower!" She giggled, then ran off.

She has a placemat of the presidents. And, what do you know, I DO look like Eisenhower. In a follicle nature, that is.

An excerpt from the boy's homework.

Can you guess which of these words was a misspelled spelling word?

"Carlos opened all the widows to let in the fresh air."

I'll see if I can attach a picture later. Not of the widows. Or of Carlos opening them. But of the sentence itself.

More from "The Infinitely Quotable Youngster".

Sometimes I write down what the girl says on little slips of paper, then promptly lose them. It's one of my "systems" that drives my wife crazy (replace "systems" with "annoying little habits" in the last sentence). I don't remember how long ago this last one was, but I came across it this past week:

Me: "If you burned all your hair off [I don't remember why we were talking about this], you'd look like me!"

The girl: "No, I'd look like a zombie!"

Me: "What does a zombie look like?"

The girl: "I don't know. Next time I burn off all my hair, I'll look and see if I look like a zombie."

Every night, we fight over food. In fact, it took her two hours one night last week just to try the food. After this happens, she usually finds she likes the food, then will finish it.

The girl: "I'm not interested in chicken--I'm more interested in lasagna or mac 'n' cheese."

A Few More Entries from "The Infinitely Quotable Youngster"

The boy, on helping clean up the Nativity scene: "Mom, I put baby Jesus in his place."

The girl walks into the front room, wearing a cowboy hat.
Mom: "Where's your horse?"
Girl: "I'm just pretending."

Dad, in the car, asking about the seat belt that is NEVER ready to go when we are:
"Are you in like Flynn?"
Girl: "I'm buckled like fuckle!"

New (to me) digital point and shoot/Mouth tennis.

(Unnecessary Introduction--if you want to see the video, it's after the jump, as they say):

I was thinking the other day as I saw some strange things in Wal-Mart, "I wish I had a little digital point and shoot that I could carry around with me." As luck would have it later that weekend, during a casual perusal of Savers, I came across a Nikon digital camera that couldn't have been more than a couple of years old. It was priced at $20, which was so strange for how Savers has been pricing things lately (I've been meaning to rant briefly about how uppity Savers has been getting, but that will have to come later). It didn't have a memory card or charger, so there was no way of knowing if it functioned. The clerk told me that there was a seven-day return policy on it, so I risked it. Once home, I ordered a charger through Amazon (I think it was $0.18, but shipping was $7 or $8), and ran to Wal-Mart to get a 2 gig card (another $15 or so). Luckily, the charger came in time, the battery charged, and voila! I picked up a $175 camera for $42ish. Not bad. Add another $1.49 at my favorite thrift store, and I've got a little Lowe Pro case for the thing.

Konica Pictures (or, rather, Pictures of the Konica)

Here are a couple of shots of the camera I talked about/obsessed about here. Now I need to shoot some pictures and post those.

This is the switch that will hopefully make all my dreams come true.

Self-referential Palindrome.

I know most of my palindromes are short and only involve one word, but this one was great because it makes reference both to me (my students who are too lazy to say all five syllables of "Mr. Archiblog" call me "Mr. A") and my wife (who goes by the nickname "La"):

"Alarm Mr. A, La!"
