New (to me) digital point and shoot/Mouth tennis.

(Unnecessary Introduction--if you want to see the video, it's after the jump, as they say):

I was thinking the other day as I saw some strange things in Wal-Mart, "I wish I had a little digital point and shoot that I could carry around with me." As luck would have it later that weekend, during a casual perusal of Savers, I came across a Nikon digital camera that couldn't have been more than a couple of years old. It was priced at $20, which was so strange for how Savers has been pricing things lately (I've been meaning to rant briefly about how uppity Savers has been getting, but that will have to come later). It didn't have a memory card or charger, so there was no way of knowing if it functioned. The clerk told me that there was a seven-day return policy on it, so I risked it. Once home, I ordered a charger through Amazon (I think it was $0.18, but shipping was $7 or $8), and ran to Wal-Mart to get a 2 gig card (another $15 or so). Luckily, the charger came in time, the battery charged, and voila! I picked up a $175 camera for $42ish. Not bad. Add another $1.49 at my favorite thrift store, and I've got a little Lowe Pro case for the thing.

It does video, too, and since our miniDV camera is making scary growling noises without significant provocation, we haven't shot video of the kids for a little too long. Here we are at dinner---the kids are playing what sounds like a game of tennis with their mouths. Then they tell a couple of jokes. Hope it works.
