Complaints/Questions

Anybody out there know much about blogspot/blogger? I'm getting frustrated with a number of things, and I've only been on here three days.
Here we go:
  • when adding photos, it places the added photo above the text, and above any previously posted pictures.
  • The editor is only in html, rather than visual; this means I've got to do a lot of cutting and pasting of text that I think is the right text and try to move it around. (Boo hoo!)
  • Wordpress has this lovely feature that shows how many people have visited, where they came from/linked from, and what kinds of search terms they used to get to your site. Not that this is necessary, but it certainly is addictive to find out your "stats". Does blogspot have this?
So, if you know anything about these features (or lack thereof), I would love to hear from you. Thank you for your time.

Theresa--senior shots

I asked one of my former students to model for me because I wanted to try some "senior shots". I had her as a freshman and sophomore, and she's remained a good friend. Plus, she has crazy hair and facial piercings--always a plus (the eyebrow one is named "Chad". Seriously). Let me know what you think.

(I would imagine that I should show fewer pictures, but I really do like a bunch of these--she was fun to shoot).

Recent-ish pictures.

Went to SLC for conference and a Danish Mission Reunion. Stayed (perhaps overstayed) with my friend Ike and his wife Kristy. Hung out with my Swedish friend, Rydgren. Ate bad Italian food. Saw my Danish mission president and a bunch of Danish Mission people. Ate meatballs and rice pudding. Saw sights around SLC. Napped during Conference (however unintentionally). Here are some pictures:

Ike's baby.

Ike's baby again.

The Swede. He took the "Which Muppet are you most like?" quiz on Facebook and found, to his dismay, that he is most like the Swedish Chef. Surprise.

These statues have never seen a Swede before. Now they have.

I consider myself one of the influential people in Utah's history, along with Provo, Washakie, and Ogden (and now Rydgren!).

Some guy on TRAX either feeling bad about what he heard during the Priesthood Session, or feeling bad about having to ride TRAX.

K. B. Andersen--one of the coolest Danes I know, and my former mission president.

Nunne Andersen--one of the sweetest ladies I know, and just look at the wee bit of crazy behind those eyes. Began most addresses to us with "KAERE MissionAEAERE!"

Rydgren claims the "This is the Place" monument for Sweden. Looking to the future.

This shot is why I had to go buy a $8 roll of expired film from the airport bookstore. Expired was the only kind they carried, and they had to pull it out from under the counter. I rushed to get to the airport for a 4:00 flight, which meant no time for buying film at Wal-Mart or Target. Then, of course, I sat for another two hours waiting for my delayed flight. Awesome.

The wife used the digital camera for a niece's wedding, so I took my film camera, and it was really fun to use again--I really like how the reds came out in my pictures. I need to use it more often (there's always Scout camp!).

I just checked how they looked once published on the blog, and they are GINORMOUS! I apologize--I'm still working things out here on blogspot. And, because they were shot on film, they had to be scanned in, then Photoshopped for lint (which I didn't do very well). So, yeah, sorry.

bobhund's untimely demise

Wowsers. So, I kind of killed bobhund7. Why? I had a nosy student who told me she had been "looking all over the internet for your stuff for months!" and who was excited to finally know where she could see pictures, etc. I got a sickly feeling in the ol' stomach, thinking about blending the public me with the private me, and about pictures of my kids in the hands of other kids.

Before giving it another thought, I went to the main control page on wordpress and killed it. It deleted all posts, pictures, and anything associated with it (supposedly). After I hit the "confirm" button, I wondered if it was the right thing to do--actually, it wasn't until about a week later when said student approached me again, laughing, wondering why I had deleted the whole kit-and-caboodle. "Really?" she asked. "Deleted the whole thing? You know I'll find it. Nothing is ever completely gone from the internet." Well, maybe not, but at least I haven't been able to find anything associated with it.

Reason #2? After thinking about my kids being out there with their names posted, etc., I figured maybe I really ought to have aliases for them. It's not like my "interested" students don't already know their names, but I'd rather have the people with the wrong kind of interest not know. So, there you have it.

I think I'll have a contest. If you'd like to get a chance to name my children, write me an email with some suggestions. Something royal-sounding and ridiculous will probably win. Preferably with a "the 3rd" or "esquire" on the end--that would be nice. Until they receive a name, though, I thought I would include a couple of pictures we shot this morning with them on the laptop, and a short video, if I can get it to work. (I'm new to blogspot/blogger--I hope to see how this works).

Child's head, dad's body.

Dad's head, child's body.

We had fun this morning.

I'll leave this up for a little while--apparently, I've already revealed Jr.'s name in the video clip. Crap. (No, his name's not "Crap"--well, sometimes it is, but the more colorful version of the word. That is an inheritance from my maternal grandparents.)

Enough for now.
